I read this book as part of an offer where I got to review it before it came out on shelves, in exchange for a promise to review it.

Since I have way too many places to post, I put it on my blogspot blog and am sharing the links...

http://talesoftater.blogspot.com/

Also, if you go to http://www.tatersoup.smugmug.com you can see the most recent pictures of Amelia

and http://www.firethehousewife.com has some great videos of her!

I'm not sick. Amelia is Sick. Kinda. I think its just a cold, but she was running a touch of a fever earlier today and therefore we are home for the day. I dropped her off at daycare this morning knowing she was not quite right. When I got there, I found out that two kids went home sick yesterday (at least one of whom should not have come to daycare) and that one other momma was on her way to pick up a baby this morning (of course I dropped off at 8, so if he needed picked up and they were waiting on momma already, he should have never come to daycare either). So I dropped her off, told Connie that if she got any worse that she could call me and I would come and get her. So at 11, I see my secretary peeking in the door of the court room to tell me that daycare called and I needed to get amelia. So I found someone to cover my afternoon case, gathered up all my trial prep for tomorrow, learned how to check voicemail at home, and then off to get her I went. We got home, George had not left yet, so I ran to walmart quickly since we had no baby tylenol to break whatever fever she might have.

On the bright side she has been in a great mood (for a sickie), and I have managed to get some of the work done that I brought home, but I am seeing an all nighter coming on. She has taken a short nap. I fed her some yogurt while talking on the phone to half the attorney's at legal services. I have called half the damn county. Nothing like a non-day-off to spend with my sickie!

My dear little monster has started making some funny new faces. We like to call it the mean face. Though, she does not look mean, and it usually comes right after she is grinning. This was her progression of faces while hanging out with daddy the other day...

Happy Girl....THEN

Still Happy...

Now, I am mean!

What I have determined is that I am boring! I am a mommy, and a mommy and a mommy....and that is alright with me!

I now have a mobile baby, so instead of putzing around with pictures I should be hiding everything possible. That and she has started waving which is fun. She also has learned the new face that is in the pictures. She scrunches her whole face up and then blows out her nose so that it will make a funny sound. She thinks she looks mean, we thinks she is just funny!

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Pizza Rolls I wish that I could, I love the stupid things even though I know that they are absolutely disgusting!
Literary: Blogs and Forums No one seems to understand how I can be so interested in the lives of people I never met! But I love you all. Of course, I will read anything on the internet apparently after the reading of the stolen cell phone diatribe the other day.
Audiovisual: Family Guy I freaking love that show! I will pretty much turn off anything to watch it...oh yeah, and I watch the Gilmore girls and seventh heaven too, for some stupid reason!
Musical: Country...the whole genre It always comes in on the radio? No matter where you are, I have no other explanation!
Celebrity: Britanie Spears I will admit that I sat and watched the entire matt lauer interview! From beginning to end...

I got this in my email this morning, and we have a sandbox for Amelia, but I hadn't put anything in it, because I figured that sand was sure to go in the tummy....but who cares if she ingests a little oatmeal!

"Hi Rebecca! If Amelia loves to play outdoors, make her a smaller version of a sandbox with a large, plastic storage container and oatmeal. Just fill the container half-full of dry oatmeal and throw in some toys. Amelia will love to feel the oatmeal between her fingers and any oatmeal tossed out of the container can be left as a treat for the birds to eat, or vacuumed up if you're inside the house. When playtime is over, just snap on the lid until next time."

X-posted!

Since somewhere in my house I managed to lose the Father's day card that I bought, I figured that I would let Amelia make a card for her daddy and her grandpas...and she did a great job...FINGER PAINTS! !  Sorry about busting up your friends page, but my silly livejournal cut would not work!

And another first...Swimming Pools!

Ok, so I am slightly retarded, and had to run to topeka to file a supreme court response...because it was due today. I got about 2 miles outside of emporia at which point the speedometer on the new car (the VW) went to 0. Well, I was doing well over 0, closer to 80. So I pulled over checked fuses, turned the car off and turned it back on thinking that would help. No go. So I call the dealership and attempt to drive to Topeka without a speedometer. The dealership says we can't get you in today, I explain that I live out of town etc. And they agree to look at it and see what they can do. So I take it to the dealership and all the technicians are at lunch. So I wait for them to get back at 1, I got there about 12. Come to find out after another wait on them to get the computer readout that I need some valve thing, that is, of course, not in stock. So the service manager says, well, we will put the old one back in and send you on your way and you can come back when the part comes in. UMMMMMMMMMM-----NO!

Car + Warranty - functioning speedometer = me leaving in it?! YEAH RIGHT!

So I explain to him the liability that he is causing for me, and for the dealership, and for volkswagen. So he looks at the warranty, it says that they will provide alternate transportation if the car is "down" He explains that since the car is still driveable that they are not going to be providing a loaner. I told him that was obviously unacceptable since the speedometer would not be working without the new part! He says, there is nothing we can do about it. So I ask who I need to call, get the customer care line for VW, call and talk to a very nice lady there who calls him, and gets the dealership owner and the district service manager involved. After about an hour on the phone with VW, well, mainly on hold while she talked to the dealership...the service manager pops his head in the waiting area and tells me that they have a car headed over for me. Apparently they have determined that a non functioning speedometer = down......DUH!

So the guy from the rental place comes over, and gets me and the acoutrements that are needed from my car, takes me to pick up the car. And what do I get. A mustang convertable. Not bad. I have never managed to get a nicer car as a rental than what I drive.

However, after getting tater bug out a couple of times, I now know why I am so adamently against 2 door cars! they are a pain in the tuckis!

Amelia got her first taste of solids today. Just a tablespoon or less of some fresh banana pureed with some EBM. She really enjoyed it!

She was a few days early, not quite to her 6 mo mark. But, since I was a bad parent the other day, and she got a corn chip to play with and she treated it like food instead of a toy, I decided to give it a shot. (Let the snark begin!)

Big day for Miss Amelia yesterday! We first went to see the easter bunny, and get her picture taken. Went well, she smiled beautifully! I know hard to imagine, little miss thing smiling for the camera! Her grandparents drove down and met us at the mall to get to see her with the easter bunny. Then, we went to lunch where she was an angel. Then as we got in the car, brilliance struck. Lets take her to the park and ride the carousel. Since it was so beautiful, we did just that. Of course being the great parents that we are, we forgot the camera. Luckily George's parents did not, so we called them up, got them to meet us at the park, and off we rode. Amelia thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the carousel, though we were worried it might scare her a bit. But no. She was having a grand ole time. Then we went and looked at the tulips in the gardens at the park. Took some more pictures, and then decided it was time to get her out of the sun. Then, off to visit friends, and a quick stop at Target. There we decided to buy a Little Einsteins Exersaucer. At home, I had to put it together and see if she would like it. And indeed...she did!

Now, of course, I have my random thought for the day. Twice today, I have heard the statement "There is someone out there for everyone" changed up based on the fact that the person involved was post breakup or post divorce. The statement then became there are 2 people out there for that person. Of course, my thought, if the person that they had broken up with was the one for them, would they have broken up. I would think not, so my thought is that the original person was not the one for them. Am I missing something. Or, is it really that there is one person out there for everyone, and it might not be the person that you chose first. Discuss...

Arrrgggg, As I was leaving daycare today, the provider was getting
Amelia a bottle ready. It occurred to me as my butt hit the seat in
the car that she had stuck the bottle in the microwave! My hard
pumped MM, in the Microwave, it about killed me in the car!

I have to deal with that tonight! If I am going to spend all that
time pumping, I sure as shit do not want all the nutrients and
antibodies killed in the microwave! If I wanted that I would give
her that crap in a can (no offense to supplementing moms, I swear!
Just the tendency to call it that at my house).

So, I need to figure out how to A) tell her not to do that and B)
come up with a new plan. Can we just put a cooler pack in the cooler
which keeps it cool but not cold and have her give it that way, or
just have her sit one out on the counter and let it get room temp. I
will explain that at home we nuke some water and then put the bottle
in it, and warm it that way, though that takes more time.

Of course DBF his thought was to just tell her to leave all of them
out, she is only there 8 hours, though, can you leave refrigerated
out all day like that?

EEEEEKKKKKK

Because I have not gotten the link for the new pictures that we had taken last night yet, I thought I would go with this one instead, Daddy took this of Amelia during their playtime the other day.
